Small groups such as governance boards make big decisions. My mission is to support them by providing them with research-based tools so they can face complexity with confidence.
I developed an interest in the link between group decision-making and diverse thinking through my original background in communication science and more recent experience serving on governance boards.
Greater diversity of thought enables groups to make better choices when addressing complex problems - by guarding against unchallenged, deficient decision-making (‘groupthink’) and creating capability to generate more innovative and comprehensive options for challenges and opportunities.
The Diversity of Thought Scorecard is a fit-for-purpose tool for measuring and managing a group’s capability for wide-ranging thought diversity. It is being used by dozens of governance boards, leadership teams and other decision-making groups within commercial and for-purpose organisations.
