Dan brings over 40 years of financial and corporate experience gained from various entrepreneurial ventures, and a wide array of industry sectors.
He completed his Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, in Ontario, Canada, and he holds multiple complementary professional accreditations, through a number of domestic, and international associations. Dan is also a Chartered Governance Professional, a Professional Director, an Accredited Director, and has attained the Partners, Directors, and Officers certification (OSFI), as required by the Ontario Securities Commission for public company officers and directors. Dan has also attained the designation as a Global ESG Competent Board Director (GCB.D).
Dan’s career has included extensive experience in the areas of public accounting, internal audit, corporate management, manufacturing, financial services, precious metals, entrepreneurial ventures, consulting, and academia. For over 35 years, he held the position of Managing Director and Professional Counsel in a successful private financial practice, specializing in C-Suite performance contracts, financial reporting, taxation, systems development, and general business, legal, and corporate consulting. Throughout his career, Dan has been an active entrepreneur, and has held many senior executive appointments, including President and Chief Executive Officer, Director of Internal Audit, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer, for both private, and publicly listed companies, holding senior positions in companies such as BCE Publitech Inc. ($1B subsidiary of BCE), and Bullion Group Inc. ($1B in AUM).
Dan is, and has been active on many Boards, including those in the not-for-profit sector (social services, youth, and the performing arts), National and Provincial professional associations (financial compliance professionals, and governance professionals), profit sector organizations (financial services, mining exploration, IT development, and corporate consulting), and a public utility (electricity). On these various Boards, he has participated in many capacities, including as an independent Director, Chair of the Board, Audit and Finance Committee Chair, and Governance Committee member. Dan has also acted as advisor to the Board in a number of his client companies, and for his employers, and holds financial literacy skills at a Level 5.
Dan currently acts in the capacity of an entrepreneur, consultant, and professional director, where his current business equity interests include corporate consulting, mining exploration, and innovative IT platform development, as well as numerous project endeavours related to net-zero carbon footprint solar and construction projects, and work with the Indigenous communities in Ontario.
Dan lives in Barrie, Ontario, Canada, with his wife, Monika, who is an artist, and their 8 children, and 8 grandchildren live and work across Canada. For fun, Dan is an avid outdoorsman, prospector, and executive biker, and enjoys time at his cabin, in the wilderness of northern Ontario.
